Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information NearHalo collects, why we use it, who can see it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we collect
NearHalo collects information needed to create an account, operate the service, coordinate an authorized care team, and deliver the features you choose to use.
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we process your email address, account identifier, and information you choose to add to a care profile, such as a name, date of birth, phone number, emergency contacts, notes, and care-team details.
Health and wellness information
With permission on the care recipient’s device, NearHalo can receive selected data from Apple Health, including heart rate, blood oxygen, steps, walking or running distance, active energy, and fall events. We use this information for the app’s wellness and caregiving features; we do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing profiles, or sale to data brokers.
Location information
With permission, NearHalo can process a care recipient’s location to show authorized caregivers the latest available location, support safe-zone features, and provide location context during an active emergency-tracking session. Location availability depends on device settings, connectivity, and other factors.
Device and notification information
We process information required to operate connected-device features, such as device reporting status, battery and connectivity context, operating system or app version, and a push-notification token when you enable notifications. We use notification tokens to deliver NearHalo notices through Apple Push Notification service.
Website contact
NearHalo does not collect email addresses through this website. If you contact us by email, we use the information you provide only to respond to your request and support the NearHalo service.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and secure the service, including to authenticate accounts; create and manage care profiles and authorized care-team access; display available wellness, location, and device context; support configured alerts and notifications; respond to support requests; and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information or health information. We do not use health data for third-party advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. How information is shared
Authorized care teams
NearHalo shares a care recipient’s relevant profile, wellness, location, device, and alert information with the people authorized for that recipient’s care team. Access can change when care-team membership changes. Do not add, invite, or monitor someone unless you have the authority and consent required to do so.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate NearHalo. They may process information only as needed to provide their services to us and subject to their own applicable terms and privacy commitments.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or security of NearHalo, our users, or others.
4. Your choices and controls
You can manage Health and Location permissions in iOS Settings. Turning a permission off stops future collection through that permission; it does not itself erase information already stored in NearHalo.
Manage care-team membership in the app. A person using the recipient device can use Stop sharing to stop new sharing from that device.
You can turn notifications on or off in the app or in your device settings.
Use Settings → Account → Delete account in the app to permanently delete your account and the associated data described below. See Account deletion and support for details.
5. Retention and deletion
We retain information while an account is active and as needed to provide NearHalo. When you delete an account through the app, NearHalo deletes the account and the care profiles created by that account, including associated wellness, location, fall, alert, safe-zone, and monitoring history. Memberships and notification registrations tied to the account are also removed. We may retain limited information only when required by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Deleting an account cannot be undone. Deleting an account created by one caregiver does not delete care profiles created by someone else; it removes that account’s access to them.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated access controls and database access rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about the personal data we process. California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, correct, delete, and opt out of certain sale or sharing. NearHalo does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To make a request, email info@josephpagan.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may authorize an agent where applicable law permits.
8. Children’s privacy
NearHalo is not directed to children under 13, and accounts are intended to be created by adults. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review the request.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as NearHalo changes. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app or by email before material changes take effect.
